Before you can begin your ceramic tile flooring installation, you must make sure that the tiles you have chosen are well-suited for the section of the house you are going to use them for. Ceramic tile flooring is resistant to moisture, water spillage and sudden extreme changes in temperature and are usually used in bathrooms or kitchens, and sometimes in other areas of the house as well. Once you have made sure of the section of flooring that you will use ceramic tiling for and also the tiles that you want to use - you are ready to begin.
Many people buy books offering a broad selection of plans only to be disappointed with the fact that they cannot easily narrow down the search to only plans that fit their needs. Hopefully you will choose to simplify this process with a system that helps you narrow down just the house floor plans that fit your actual needs. This is most easily performed with online plan sites. However there are pitfalls to this process also. Most people start the process by a best guess as to what size home they should build. They either pick a size range based on a floor plan they found and liked while randomly searching online or they tour a home they like and assume that it is the size that will be right for their needs. There are frustrating problems associated with both of these methods.
Tile flooring comes in many designs and patterns. These range from simple 6 inch by 6 inch squares of a single color to marble tile with natural mixtures of colors to ceramic tiles with ornate designs painted on. Whatever your taste and design style, you are sure to find something that fits your needs. In general, bigger tiles look small spaces look larger, while smaller tiles work better on walls or in larger spaces. Installation Considerations. If you are thinking about installing tile flooring by yourself, there are several things to consider. First, make sure you have an accurate measurement of your room, so you can purchase adequate tile. A good rule of thumb is to buy about 20% more than you think you’ll need. This will provide extra for breakage as well as tiles that have to be cut to fit the space.
Make sure that the home has the basics. For your ideal floor plan, know up front what your home is going to need, from number of bedrooms to a suitable number of bathrooms. Automatically eliminate any home that does not offer this basic floor plan and you will quickly begin to narrow down the selection to something much more manageable in your chosen area. Once you know that the home has the basics, you can begin to eliminate based on other criteria. Choosing the number of bedrooms is not simply a matter of counting the people in your family. For instance, if your family consists of you and your husband, you may not need two bedrooms in your starter home. On the other hand, if you have a son and daughter, they will each need a room, bringing the total to a minimum of three. Sometimes children of the same gender can share a bedroom, as can roommates or housemates on occasion.
